Dr. Barbara Naru teaches in the BSN and MSN programs at Joyce University. She serves on the curriculum committee and is a content lead.
Dr. Naru has experience teaching nursing and financial management at Mount St. Mary’s College and SUNY New Paltz. As a leader in hospital and care facilities, she developed, taught, and led many in-house training programs for nursing staff.
Dr. Naru’s extensive health care career includes medical-surgical, ICU, Neonatal ICU, and behavioral health roles. She has held multiple leadership positions at hospitals and care facilities, through which she built cultures of trust and collaboration across roles and improved patient satisfaction outcomes.
Barbara holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice from Quinnipiac University, an MA from New York University, and a BS in nursing from Cornell University. She is a board certified ANCC – Nurse Executive, Advanced (NEA-BC).
Dr. Naru uses a hands-on approach to preparing the next generation of nurses for leadership roles. Through her extensive experience, she enjoys helping student pair a focus on patient care with logistical and organizational excellence. She loves to motivate and encourage her students to commit to the highest standards of nursing practice.
