“The Joyce name is our tribute to our students, alumni, and faculty and is a reminder that our success is built on the excellence of our people – past, present, and future.”
2022 marks the most significant milestone in our institution’s 43-year history. Starting as a small technical college in Provo, Utah, we’ve grown to become one of the largest nursing and occupational therapy assistant schools in the state offering undergraduate and graduate degrees.
“The Joyce name is our tribute to our students, alumni, and faculty and is a reminder that our success is built on the excellence of our people – past, present, and future.”
Selecting the new name has been a multi-year process involving extensive research and input from Ameritech faculty, staff, students, and alumni. We brought in external expertise and perspectives and explored nearly 2,000 names. We tested several names with both internal and external audiences based on our criteria, including focus groups and surveys. On August 19, 2021, Ameritech’s Board of Trustees formally approved the new name.
No. We have only changed our DBA (Doing Business As) name. The college has the same ownership, legal structure, and shared governance.
Yes! The new name was inspired in large part by our alumni! For transcripts, because federal regulations prohibit us from applying a new name retroactively, those who graduated before the name change is enacted will have a transcript that reflects both Ameritech College of Healthcare and the new name (i.e., ‘Ameritech College of Healthcare – now known as Joyce University of Nursing and Health Sciences’)
No. NWCCU is our new institutional accreditor. This type of accreditation is sometimes referred to as regional accreditation. The college still maintains CCNE, ACEN and ACOTE accreditation for our nursing and OTA programs. Learn more about our accreditations.
