Dr. Mwathi’s first teaching experience was as an IT and English instructor in Kenya working with migrants destined to the US, Canada, and Australia. He also taught virtual and face-to-face NCLEX coaching with a 100% pass rate and has taught as adjunct nursing faculty at Education Affiliates.
Dr. Mwathi worked as a primary care provider in a subsidized clinic for underinsured and uninsured communities. He also has over ten years of experience as an active-duty US Naval officer. His Nurse Corps roles have included oncology nurse specialist, charge nurse, nurse supervisor, and healthcare leadership intern.
Dr. Mwathi prioritizes care for underserved communities.
Dr. Mwathi’s favorite part of his job is watching students grow each day and become excellent nurses. He enjoys learning from his students.
Dr. Mwathi holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice from Walden University, a post graduate certificate as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner from Wilkes University, a Master of Science as a Family Nurse Practitioner from Georgetown University, a Master of Business Administration in Healthcare Administration from Excelsior College, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing Cum Laude from South University, and a Master of Arts in Religious Studies, 1st Class Honors and a Bachelor of Arts in Economic and Religious Studies, 2nd Class Honors from the University of Nairobi.
Dr. Mwathi is a soccer fan and enjoys playing soccer in the park with his kids. He says that it is a very entertaining game and the best cardio workout.
