Dr. Melissa Newingham is an associate professor. She currently teaches Transition to Professional Nursing Practice and Fundamentals of Professional Nursing.
Dr. Newingham has been a nursing educator since 2020. She has taught courses on professional nursing development, pathophysiology, pharmacology, nursing skills, nursing clinicals, medical-surgical, and mental health.
Dr. Melissa Newingham has been a nurse since 2007. She has worked in a variety of settings, including mental health, pediatrics, management, ICU, private duty, and home health.
Dr. Melissa Newingham belongs to the Phi Theta Kappa High Honors Society, Sigma Theta Tau and The American Nurses Association. She has also participated in nonprofit organizations including 100 Women Giving Back and Management Women, Inc. She is a youth coach and speaker with Maxwell Leadership Certified.
Dr. Melissa Newingham loves witnessing her students’ transformation as they develop from novices to competent healthcare professionals. Imparting knowledge and guiding her students toward their professional goals fulfills, inspires, and motivates her.
Dr. Newingham has an Associate of Science in Nursing from Northeast Wisconsin Technical College. She has a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Master of Science in Nursing with an education emphasis from Grand Canyon University, and a Doctor of Nursing Practice with an executive leadership emphasis from Rasmussen University.
Dr. Melissa Newingham lives in a cozy little town in northeast Wisconsin, and she absolutely loves experiencing all four seasons. She is a proud mom of two amazing daughters—Lexi, who’s 13 and loves volleyball, and Izzy, who just started college this year. When she isn’t working, she enjoys spending time outside, and enjoys biking, hiking, and horseback riding. She is also a big fan of reading and listening to podcasts.
