2024 Graduate Student Symposium: Nursing Leadership & Education

Join us for the 2024 Graduate Symposium, a virtual event dedicated to showcasing the innovative projects of our MSN students. Held from August 12-15, this symposium will feature 30-minute presentations conducted remotely via Zoom.

This event aims to promote the MSN program and raise awareness of its impact at Joyce University of Nursing & Health Sciences. We invite all faculty and students, both undergraduate and graduate, to attend one or more of these insightful presentations. Family and friends of the presenters are also encouraged to join. Don’t miss this opportunity to support our students and learn more about their outstanding work in nursing leadership and education.

Event Details

This year’s Graduate Symposium features six outstanding masters-level nursing students and future nursing leaders and educators.

2024 Graduate Symposium Presenters

 

Cindy Appau-Nkansah

Cindy Appau-Nkansah received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Brigham Young University-Idaho and has worked as a registered nurse for five years. She has experience in medical/oncology and skilled nursing, with an interest in senior care. A Long Island, New York native, Cindy loves ocean beaches and exploring the world with her toddler. She enjoys spending time with her family, crafting, braiding hair, and making beautiful sugar cookies.

Emmalinna Davis

Emmalinna Davis is an MSN student at Joyce University with a diverse background in nursing, having worked as a registered nurse in medical-surgical, hospice care, and IV home infusion. She holds an ASN and a BSN from Joyce University, and will complete her MSN with an Executive Nursing Leadership focus in August 2024. Emmalinna enjoys nature, spending time with her family and dogs, and has a deep love for cows and the ocean.

Katherine Kindlespire

Katherine Kindlespire is an emergency room charge nurse in rural Idaho. She earned a bachelor’s degree in exercise science in 2017. In 2023, she earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Joyce University, and is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Nursing with a focus on Nursing Education, she holds certifications in ACLS, PALS, and TNCC, and is working towards her CNE certification. In her free time, she enjoys outdoor activities such as rock climbing, hiking, and horseback riding, as well as spending time with her family and animals.

Savanna Petersen

Savanna Peterson is an MSN student at Joyce University, working as a registered nurse at St. Mark’s Hospital since 2021 with a focus on telemetry and leadership. She holds an Associate of Science in Nursing (2021) and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (2022) from Joyce University and will complete her MSN in Executive Nursing Leadership in 2024. Outside of work, Savanna enjoys spending time with her family and dogs, paddle boarding, reading, hiking, and being outdoors.

Isabelle Sherman

Isabelle Sherman is an MSN student at Joyce University with a Nursing Education focus. She has almost eight years of experience as a registered nurse, including work as a travel nurse in various states. Isabelle has a background in progressive care/step-down units, specializing in trauma and burns, cardiac, and kidney and liver transplants. She is passionate about mentoring and decided to enroll in the MSN program at Joyce to bring her knowledge into the classroom. Isabelle also enjoys marathon training, trail running, hiking, cooking, and spending time with her family, including her husband and two dogs. She is currently learning to play the bass guitar.

Jessica Stewart

Jessica Stewart is an MSN student at Joyce University. Jessica received her Associate of Science in Nursing in 2014 and Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2018 from Brigham Young University-Idaho. She has worked as an RN and charge nurse in the inpatient medical rehab unit at the University of Utah Hospital for eight years. Jessica earned her Certified Rehabilitation Registered Nurse certification in 2021 and has been a clinical instructor for nursing students at Joyce University for the past two years. Jessica enjoys playing with her three-year-old daughter and four-year-old pug, long-distance running with her husband of ten years, and working with the youth group in her church.
